Cubaris Murina "Anemone"

Cubaris murina 'Anemone' is a calico-type isopod with soft, random mottling across a light pink-to-orange base, scattered with dark splotches and hints of blue-grey and purple. Each animal carries its own unique pattern, rewarding close observation.

This morph combines striking, gentle colouring with the easiest care in the Cubaris genus. Unlike premium cave species, the Anemone is hardy and forgiving, making it an ideal first Cubaris. It establishes quickly and tolerates minor care lapses.

Keep them warm between 17 and 28°C, aiming for the middle of that range. They need moderate, steady dampness of 55 to 75% with good cross-ventilation—moist, not wet. Build a living substrate from flake soil, rotted hardwood and organic topsoil, topped with magnolia leaf litter. Add crushed limestone, cuttlebone or eggshell for calcium during moulting, and introduce a springtail culture to manage mould.

They are easy-going detritivores that graze on leaf litter, decaying wood and substrate matter. Offer occasional vegetables or protein, removing uneaten food within a day or two. They conglobate when disturbed; larger, settled colonies grow bolder and move throughout the day and night.
