Cubaris sp "Daxin Tricolour"
Cubaris sp. 'Daxin Tricolour' — a stunning cave-dwelling isopod from China, featuring distinctive orange, black, and cream banding. Moderately easy to care for, these captivating isopods make an excellent addition to any vivarium collection.
Create a humid environment with temperatures between 21–26°C and a moisture gradient ranging from 75–85% humidity on one side to drier conditions on the other. Ensure adequate cross-ventilation to keep the setup fresh and prevent air stagnation.
Establish a deep substrate bed of at least 5–8 cm using organic material mixed with crushed limestone or another calcium source. Layer abundantly with leaf litter, cork bark, and decaying hardwood to provide shelter and burrowing opportunities. A thriving springtail culture helps control mould in the humid zones.
These isopods thrive on decaying wood and organic matter. Supplement their diet twice weekly with fresh vegetables such as carrot and courgette, plus occasional protein sources. Always offer a calcium supplement like cuttlebone to aid healthy moulting cycles.
Perfect for keepers wanting an attractive, low-maintenance isopod with eye-catching coloration and straightforward care requirements.
