Cubaris sp. "Rubber Ducky"

Discover the Cubaris sp. "Rubber Ducky" — an extraordinary land crustacean with a striking yellow head and distinctive facial markings that resemble a toy rubber duck. Native to limestone cave systems in southern Thailand, these compact isopods measure just 1.0 to 1.4 cm and live 2 to 3 years, making them a rewarding addition to bioactive terrariums.

Ideal for intermediate to advanced keepers, they require precise conditions: temperatures of 22–26°C, humidity of 75–90%, and a moist-to-dry substrate gradient for burrowing. Provide decaying hardwood, leaf litter, calcium sources like cuttlebone, and occasional protein or vegetables.

These reclusive burrowers reproduce slowly, with females producing small broods of 5 to 15 young. Their unique appearance and fossorial behaviour make them a standout choice for dedicated invertebrate enthusiasts seeking something truly special.
