Deep coral-to-red or magenta colouring with dense, fleshy tubercles creates a distinctive raspberry-like, spiky appearance. Unlike common agile springtails, this species moves slowly and deliberately, making them easy to observe and ideal for display purposes.

This species has specialized dietary requirements, feeding almost exclusively on living slime mould rather than standard decaying waste or mould. They are best suited to experienced keepers who can provide appropriate substrate conditions and slime mould cultures to support their unique feeding habits.
